I am not a bowler. I have never enjoyed bowling. Dark, smoky places, icky shoes, no idea what I'm doing. Not so at this place WHATSOEVER! This is more than a bowling alley. You walk in and there is light! On one side is a huge bowling store with a wall of bowling balls and shoes and clothes and I don't know what all. Then the lanes are on the other side are separated by glass walls. We had an impromptu birthday party. We were given a side lane that was next to a really cool kitchenette, complete with countertop, stools, refrigerator, and easy viewing of our lane. Behind that area is the Wii or XBox room. If you were to have a party, it's a whole room for your group next to the kitchen where the nonbowlers can play games or just to have a place separate. On the other side of lanes there is another even bigger kitchen with counterspace. There is a main classroom, small classroom, board room, small meeting room. The only thing missing is the hot tub! Then the bowling. I figured, why not? Maybe I could make myself like throwing those big balls down the lanes. So I did it and it turns out I wasn't half bad. Between shots, there is a screen that shows you how to throw the next one (I'm sure my terminology is way wrong!). It's cool. Like if you throw it at this angle, these pins will be knocked down. Intriguing but over my head. When my 5 yo took her turn, up would pop the bumpers, almost invisible bumpers. She loved it. She was even good. Then they told me about the Saturday classes. You mean there is technique? I had no idea. Classes for adults and kids. Thanks to the Michigan law, no smoke. But this place doesn't seem like it's EVER had smoke in it. It was so nice. The couches behind the lanes were leather. Classy bowling! Oh, and the shoes happened to match the shirt I was wearing. They were so new too that it wasn't gross feeling at all. After we turned in the shoes, I noticed an employee spraying them all. That's comforting! Overall great experience. We all enjoyed it. My husband beat me by only one point. Sixteen years of marriage and it's the first time he ever got me to bowl. I might have to do it again. That's the only place I'll go, though. I will certainly recommend it as a school fundraiser and great Scout activity that includes a lesson.
